Each Sunday, members and friends of our Church meet for Sunday Worship in our Sanctuary at 10 AM. Our worship style is mostly contemporary although we do incorporate older style hymns often. We have many talented musicians who are members of our Church. Most worship services have at least one guitarist and several singers. Depending on the team that is leading we also sometimes have drums, bass guitar, piano, or wind instruments as accompaniment. The message is most often presented by Pastor Wayne. On some Sundays the message is presented by Pastor Jere, an Elder, or a guest speaker. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of most months. Each
Sunday, as part of our regular service, we have a special “Children’s
Church.” Our children spend the first part of the service with the
adults, and then go and learn in an environment that is designed to
appeal to their age and abilities. Usually there is a snack and craft
involved too!
For
literally decades, our church has had a special Christmastime service.
We call this the “Candlelight Service.” It usually takes place during
the week before Christmas. At this special service, we share Christmas
carols, stories, poems, and just about any creative thing attendees can
envision.
Bread and
pastries are given to members of the community each Tuesday from 12-2
PM. All food is generously donated by Modesto organizations and
businesses free of charge to the Church and to members of the community
who benefit.
There are
several small groups that meet during the week to further their walk
and to build lasting positive relationships with fellow believers. If
you would like to be involved in one of these groups, please contact
one of our pastors for more information.
Weed and Seed is a project that is a partnership between the City of
Modesto, the US Department of Justice, and many community members and
organizations. The purpose is to “Weed” out crime, blight, etc. Then to
“Seed” the community by making improvements in community
infrastructure, activities, and investing in people. For more
information see http://www.paradise-south.com/.
During
the winter, members of our church participate in the Salvation Army’s
winter shelter. At several times throughout the winter we get together
to prepare food, and then go over to the shelter to serve the food to
homeless members of our community. We are happy to share in this work
with the Salvation Army, other local churches, and organizations.
Congregations
Building Communities is a a community based organization whose goal is
to improve life for Modesto residents. This organization helps to hold
public officials accountable for conditions and needed improvements in
the Modesto area. Several members of our church are participants as
well as members of other local churches and community organizations.
