We believe in the Holy Scripture as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct. The Word of God is “spirit and life” and therefore requires of us a spiritual and living response. This response involves a commitment to the person of Jesus Christ and a dedication to follow Him as Lord. Our church recognizes but transcends theological differences through sharing a common life in Christ. We hold to and observe the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe in the Gospel for the whole person and the whole world. Such concern for wholeness finds expression in evangelism, in Christian education and in the missionary task, which includes the community in which our church is located. We welcome into membership all who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

    Mission Statement

Therefore, the mission of CBC is to cooperate with God in the building of The Kingdom of Heaven by changing individuals, families and the neighborhood from the inside out through the reconciling love of Jesus.

    Vision Statement

Our vision is to see CBC become a visual example to the neighborhood and to “The Church of Modesto” of Kingdom style living. Because we are strong in our connection with Jesus, we will never cease to love the unlovely and those who are “different” from us toward the end that some will come to know Him.

    Loss of McCarley Hall

The saga of our current endeavor to build a new social hall began very quietly a few years ago. It was early on a Sunday morning. The worship team had just begun practicing for that morning's service. The practice was soon interrupted by a member of one of our sister Churches who let the worship team know that “...the building is on fire!!!”

“Uh-oh, what building?”, the worship team replied. It soon became clear. One of Central Baptist's oldest structures, McCarley Hall, was on fire. It was too late to stop the fire. Our friends at the Burbank-Paradise Volunteer Fire Department arrived to put out the flames, and were able to protect the other structures on the property. But the fire had done its work and it was apparent that the building must come down for safety reasons. Not too many days later, a team arrived to demolish the structure.

Here we are a few years later, still short two classrooms, and clearly in need of a replacement for our aging nursery, kitchen and social hall. Along with McCarley Hall, these buildings are the oldest at our Church. They are in bad shape and need to be replaced. Each structure has served the Church well, providing classrooms and social space for some fifty years. Now it is time to replace them with a modern structure that can serve the needs of our Church, our sister Churches and the community of Southwest Modesto.

    Planning For the Future

Central has been in a long process of making plans for a new building to replace McCarley hall, our existing social hall, kitchen, and nursery facilities. We do not have final plans yet, but we are actively raising money for the project.

Up to this point, the project planners have been working on identifying our needs and making specifications for the eventual building. Much time has been spent analyzing the buildings that we are going to keep, and working to maximize their utility. We have a series of smaller remodel projects underway to make the facility as usable as possible once demolition and then construction begin.

If you would like to help us build this new structure, you can contribute by sending a check to the address at the top of this page (please designate to “New Building”).
